About Us

In 1978, Abe Kirshenbaum and his sons, David and Ted, purchased a vacant fruit canning facility in St. Joseph, Michigan. This was the beginning of the Southshore Companies.  In 2011, Jordan Kirshenbaum joined his father, Ted, as a third generation owner of the Southshore Companies.

Southshore today is a privately held and managed group of integrated third party logistics companies providing warehousing logistics, fulfillment, quality control services, transportation services and real estate leasing and development to its customers. The Southshore Companies have expanded beyond the former fruit canning facility in St. Joseph to include locations in Benton Harbor and White Pigeon, Michigan; Elkhart, Indiana; Dayton, Ohio; and Normal, Illinois. The Southshore Companies control approximately 1 million square feet of commercial warehouse and office space and specialize in supply chain logistics.

"Southshore Companies" is the business trade name used by the following Southshore legal entities:

The Southshore Companies have experienced strong and steady growth since 1978. Southshore only accepts customer work that we are capable of performing at an exceptional level of effectiveness, efficiency and timeliness. In addition, Southshore continues to expand its supply chain logistics capabilities in response to dynamic, escalating customer demands. The Southshore Companies financial stability and strength are enhanced by multi-dimensional customer and asset diversification. Southshore's revenue is distributed and balanced across business segments by customer size, public and private customers, customer geographic location and customer risk class.

Southshore is proud to have long-term relationships with many large, multinational and federal government customers; however, Southshore itself is a small, focused organization. Our compact central organization structure, supported and complimented by independent site management, allows Southshore to quickly deliver outstanding service, creative strategic solutions, effective operations problem solving, and final decision making to our customers. Southshore's owner-managers are immediately available to every Southshore customer requiring a timely decision.

Southshore's family traditions of trust, reliability and urgency continue to impact our daily business decisions. Southshore balances the flexibility of a family managed company with the discipline and technology required to meet customer needs in demanding industries.  Southshore's simple customer relationship philosophy is described in the Southshore House Rules.
